We hear about a low carbon energy project delivered by Nuvolt. The Vale Resort has enhanced its sustainability strategy through the installation of solar PV and EV charging points, helping to reduce emissions and support future environmental goals.
The Vale Resort has advanced its long-term sustainability strategy with a major lowcarbon energy investment across its portfolio. This was delivered by energy solutions specialist Nuvolt with minimal disruption to guests, members, and elite sporting teams.
Delivering decarbonisation projects within a live luxury hospitality environment presents significant challenges, particularly where guest experience, operational continuity, and brand standards must remain uncompromised. At the Vale Resort, Nuvolt was tasked with translating sustainability ambition into practical delivery across a site that combines hotel accommodation, championship golf, leisure and spa facilities, and elite sporting teams.
Rather than applying a standardised approach, Nuvolt focused on understanding operational demand, site constraints, and guest usage patterns, ensuring long-term environmental benefit without introducing unnecessary complexity or operational risk.
Unused roof space on the golf club building presented an opportunity for onsite renewable generation without impacting the guest environment. Nuvolt designed and installed a high-performance solar PV system capable of delivering consistent, long-term output despite variations in roof orientation and shading.
Alongside renewable generation, Nuvolt also designed and installed six dual 22 kW electric vehicle charging points within the main car park. This supports the growing number of guests and visitors arriving by electric vehicle and aligns with the Vale Resort’s wider transport and sustainability objectives.
Steve Leeke Managing Director of the Vale Resort said: “Sustainability is hugely important to us, but it has to work alongside our dayto-day operations. Guest experience and continuity were non-negotiable, and Nuvolt delivered the project with minimal disruption through clear communication at every stage.”
Owen Thomas-Thorne, Contracts Manager at Nuvolt, said: “Delivering meaningful infrastructure improvements in a live luxury hospitality environment requires detailed planning and constant communication. By working closely with the Vale Resort and phasing works around operational schedules, we ensured the project was delivered efficiently while day-to-day activity continued uninterrupted.”
The completed installation is expected to generate approximately 148.9 MWh of renewable electricity each year, resulting in carbon savings of around 28.8 tonnes of CO2 annually. By generating clean energy at the point of use, the project reduces reliance on grid electricity during peak periods and strengthens energy resilience across the resort.
The solution delivered by Nuvolt also provides a scalable platform for further decarbonisation as the Vale Resort continues to evolve its sustainability strategy, demonstrating how ambitious environmental goals can be successfully delivered within live luxury hospitality environments.
Sustainability is already firmly embedded within the Vale Resort’s operations, supported by continued investment across its diverse and energy-intensive estate. Existing initiatives include on-site solar generation elsewhere on the site, the use of electric golf buggies, and a broader focus on energy efficiency, water management, and biodiversity.
Building on this foundation, the resort was identified as the next area for targeted decarbonisation, allowing the resort to progress its ESG commitments in a practical and measurable way. Nuvolt worked closely with the resort’s estate and operational team to develop a solution that aligned with how the golf club functions on a day-to-day basis. Throughout the installation programme, the Vale Resort remained fully operational, continuing to welcome members and visitors as normal. Works were carefully phased and coordinated around the resort’s events calendar, golf schedules, and occupancy, with Nuvolt working closely alongside the Vale Resort’s teams to ensure seamless delivery.
