Heat Pumps & Renewables

Derbyshire events to help heating engineers upskill into new technologies

Heating Engineers looking to get ahead of the competition can discover how to take advantage of funded training in low carbon technologies at drop-in sessions in Derbyshire this week.

Smart Energy Training is celebrating National Heat Pump Week by throwing open the doors to its Ashbourne centre from Monday October 12 to Friday October 16.

Heat pump specialists will be on hand to explain how engineers can future-proof their careers and maximise income by completing the funded Air Source Heat Pump & Low Temperature Heating course.

The Ashbourne centre on Runway Business Park will be open from 9am to 4pm during the week.

Paul Drew, Director at Smart Energy Training, said: “There is a huge opportunity available for heating engineers to add additional renewable skills to their offering, increasing earning potential in the years to come as technologies such as heat pumps grow in demand.

“For those who are interested in low carbon technologies but perhaps don’t know where to start, this could be the first step on an exciting journey.

“The government is investing heavily in green initiatives, meaning training is funded for many. Now is the time to take advantage of that as we know funding can change.

“These open days are not about the hard sell. They are an opportunity for a relaxed, no-pressure conversation. If people bring their questions, we’ll provide straight answers.”

According to the UK Government’s Warm Homes Plan, 12,000 full-time-equivalent heat pump installers will be needed by 2030. There are currently around 4,000 FTE installers, meaning the workforce needs to triple.

The Air Source Heat Pump & Low Temperature Heating course is fully funded for eligible engineers through the government’s Heat Training Grant.

Two BPEC qualifications are available within four days – the Domestic Air Source Heat Pump and Low Temperature Hot Water Heating Systems – covering the full system, including heat loss calculations, radiator sizing, system design, installation, commissioning, servicing and fault finding.

Smart Energy Training’s team will be on hand to check whether individuals meet the Heat Training Grant criteria.

People are welcome to turn up on the day, or they can book a time by calling 01335 300560 or emailing info@smartenergytraining.co.uk
