Applications in August were 8% lower than the previous month (July 2026: 8,150). However, August 2026 was the second highest number of voucher applications in a month since the scheme started, with the prior month being the highest.
Commenting on the data, Gav Murray, Home Heating Director at Hive, said: “August’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme figures may have dipped slightly, but there is still clear appetite among households to explore heat pumps and the support available to make the switch as we head into the winter months.
“Looking ahead, the Warm Homes Loan Scheme, which is expected to open this autumn, will provide households with additional support through access to more affordable finance.
“Alongside the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, this will help make the switch to low-carbon heating even more accessible and support continued momentum in heat pump uptake.”
